My Neighbor is a Terrorist

Last night I was walking my dog right around the corner from my house. My dog spotted another dog and wanted to sniff it or whatever dogs like to do to each other. This particular dog happened to be in a yard with a fence around it. The other dog walked up to the fence and then my dog walked up to the fence for the whole “sniff” game to begin. The other dog then began to jump up and down and, as most dogs do, my dog became excited as well. In his moment of excitement my dog then jump onto the fence. I was torn away from the moment when I heard a man’s voice exclaim, “You need to get your dog off of my fence”, “You know that’s called baiting in the state of Florida”! I’m like what? Then he repeated himself, “You know that’s called as baiting in the state of Florida”? I”m said, “What?” Not because I didn’t hear him, but because I couldn’t believe this grown six foot two inch about 50 year old man had actually ran out of his house because our two dogs were excited about sniffing each other through a fence and was spurting out laws or ordinances or whatever the fuck he was spurting out. I mean did he miss his calling as a judge or attorney? Perhaps he should have called the law. Hell, children are being abducted, houses are being broken into and people are being shot, but at the moment you guys (the cops) need to stop whatever you’re doing and come and get this dog (and his owner) that touched my fence in his attempt to bond with my dog.

All I could do was shake my head. At that moment I was taken back to about two months ago when I accidentally got caught in an intersection and ended up blocking traffic because I was trying to be nice and let another lady through who was stuck on the other side. It was about 8:45am (rush hour traffic) and I was taking my daughter to school when it all happened. Well here I was stuck in the intersection with cars coming at me from all sides. I was stuck because there were cars backed up in rows in front of me and I just so happened to be the last car whose ass was hanging out where it shouldn’t be.

I wanted to move, but I couldn’t. The thing everyone who gets stuck in the intersection in Miami dreads the most is the light change. No, not the light change that gets your ass out of the intersection. The light change that lets the people go that you’re blocking from going to wherever they need to go. So…..the light changes and here comes the yelling and screaming, pounding on the cars, and of course the one in a million lunatic who doesn’t believe in Prozac but probably needs it more than a single mother with eight children who just found out she’s pregnant again.

So he pulls up in front of my car and begins spewing obscenities and pounding on his car. I swear I have never seen an angrier person as long as I’ve been on this green planet of ours. I actually thought this man was going to get out of his car and kill me and my daughter. And I think that if he thought he could get away with it that he would have killed us. By the way, did you hear about the man that recently punched a woman in the face over a parking space in New York? Well she ended up in a coma and has permanent brain damage. But from what I hear she was actually the aggressor and had already hit him twice before he hit her back. I don’t know what actually happened because I was not there, but the fact that either of them would punch the other over a parking space is a little over the hilt don’t you think? I mean are we human beings or are we regressing into animals?

Let us not forget the selfishness or the “as long as it doesn’t pertain me or my immediate family immediately ” I could care less syndrome – that is until it happens to you and then you’re “oh so concerned”. A month ago when I went to pick up my daughter from middle school…As I was pulling into the area where you pick your children up. I witnessed two young girls break out into a fight. This was after school so school security was already gone for the day. However, there were six or seven (I didn’t get an exact number because I was busy breaking up the fight) cars with adults sitting in all of them that didn’t budge to do anything to stop these children from hurting each other. Let me guess?? It wasn’t their children. Well, at least not this time right? So all of these adults sat in their cars and began to witness two small girls commence to beat the heck out of each other and did nothing. Did I also mention they (the fighting children) were in full frontal view of these cars with the adults in them?

So the next time you hear about children stabbing or killing each other in schools remember that if everyone chooses to take no responsibility for or to do nothing about anything when its not directly related to them, everything will continue to get worse. Children pick up their habits and behaviors from adults and if you don’t care then they wont care either. Believe it or not, we are all part of a “human” race and we are all each others responsibilities and everything that affects one person will eventually affect the next.

Where is all this aggression, insensitivity and lack of empathy coming from? I don’t know, but I do know that I’m not afraid of terrorists from other countries. I think we have enough terrorists right here in our own back yards to keep us busy.
